Coleman-Mach 49000 heat pump freeze-switch low heat
The Coleman-Mach 49000 heat-pump owner manual says normal heating temperature rise is 25 to 40 degrees, but when outdoor temperature activates the freeze switch the rise may be only 10 to 20 degrees and the heat pump can shut down near freezing to protect the outdoor coil.
Owner-safe checklist
- Use normal furnace or approved backup heat when outdoor temperature is near freezing and the 49000 heat pump cannot keep up.
- Clean owner-accessible filters and keep supply louvers open so reduced airflow is not mistaken for a freeze-switch or heat-pump fault.
- Record outdoor temperature, inlet temperature, supply temperature, heat-pump mode, and whether auxiliary resistance heat was expected.
- Call qualified RV HVAC service if weak heat or freeze-switch shutdown repeats when outdoor temperatures are well above freezing.
