Dometic/Atwood combo water heater gas/electric mode failure prep
Use this when a Dometic/Atwood combo gas and electric water heater works in one mode but not the other, has lockout behavior, or needs mode-specific service notes.
Owner-safe checklist
- Shut the water heater down if there is fuel odor, soot, overheating, repeated lockout, or water leaking around the appliance.
- Record whether gas mode, electric mode, or both modes fail; include switch position, lockout light state, recent storage, water flow, and weather.
- Photograph the wall switch, model label, service notes, and any visible light or control state from normal access.
- Use qualified RV water-heater service for repeated mode failure, fuel odor, overheating, no hot water, or any diagnosis beyond normal controls.
