Dometic DF furnace soot, exhaust vent, or carbon monoxide warning
Dometic DF operating instructions warn that the furnace can produce life-threatening carbon monoxide, exterior exhaust must not be blocked by snow or objects, and soot at the vent means immediately shut the furnace off and contact a dealer or qualified service technician.
Owner-safe checklist
- Shut the furnace off immediately if soot is visible or a carbon-monoxide alarm sounds.
- Keep snow and objects away from the exterior exhaust opening.
- Do not operate the furnace with a blocked exhaust or visible soot.
- If there is any gas odor, open doors and windows, evacuate, close cylinders from outside, and call the gas supplier or fire department.
