RV Appliance Code Atlas

Dometic Hydro Flame furnace operation, maintenance, and safety prep

Use this when a Dometic/Hydro Flame AFS, AFM, or AFL furnace has soot, blocked-air, erratic heat, fuel odor, or service-prep questions from the user information manual.

Owner-safe checklist

  • Shut the furnace off for fuel odor, soot, alarm activity, abnormal cycling, or heat that does not feel normal.
  • Record model series, thermostat setting, outside temperature, inlet and outlet air condition, visible soot, and whether the furnace recently sat unused.
  • Check only owner-visible air openings and exterior outlet areas for obvious obstruction from normal standing access.
  • Use qualified RV furnace service for soot, fuel odor, repeated cycling, no heat, or any inspection beyond normal owner-visible surfaces.
