Dometic OD-5001 low heat rise or excessive flow needed to trigger
Use this when an OD-5001 needs excessive flow to trigger, has low heat rise, or behaves like cold water is bleeding into the hot line.
Use this atlas to identify likely meaning and prepare for service. Shut off power, LP gas, fuel, or water when a listed appliance condition involves flame, gas smell, exhaust, generator shutdown, high temperature, moving jacks/slides, refrigerant, 120 VAC, control boards, repeated ignition failure, or a persistent lockout. Call the appliance maker, RV dealer, or a qualified RV technician for repair.
Owner-safe checklist
- Close unused hot and cold faucets or valves during troubleshooting.
- Do not rely only on a showerhead pause button to stop water flow.
- Close the actual shower valves after use so cold water cannot refill the hot line.
- Call a qualified technician if low heat rise or excessive trigger flow continues.
