Dometic OD-5001 no temperature control, too-hot water, or too-low water at low flow
Use this when an OD-5001 has no normal temperature control, water is too hot, or water is too cool at lower flow rates.
Use this atlas to identify likely meaning and prepare for service. Shut off power, LP gas, fuel, or water when a listed appliance condition involves flame, gas smell, exhaust, generator shutdown, high temperature, moving jacks/slides, refrigerant, 120 VAC, control boards, repeated ignition failure, or a persistent lockout. Call the appliance maker, RV dealer, or a qualified RV technician for repair.
Owner-safe checklist
- Stop use if water temperature is unsafe or unpredictable.
- Confirm the summer/winter setting matches incoming-water temperature using only owner-accessible controls.
- Keep flow steady during testing so the heater is not chasing changing demand.
- Call service if temperature control stays wrong after normal control checks.
