Dometic OD-5001 temperature fluctuates during use
Use this when an OD-5001 burner runs but hot-water temperature fluctuates erratically.
Use this atlas to identify likely meaning and prepare for service. Shut off power, LP gas, fuel, or water when a listed appliance condition involves flame, gas smell, exhaust, generator shutdown, high temperature, moving jacks/slides, refrigerant, 120 VAC, control boards, repeated ignition failure, or a persistent lockout. Call the appliance maker, RV dealer, or a qualified RV technician for repair.
Owner-safe checklist
- Reduce outlet restrictions by cleaning owner-accessible showerhead screens, faucet aerators, or strainers.
- Keep hot-water flow steady and avoid partially restricted fixtures during testing.
- Stop use if water temperature becomes unsafe or unpredictable.
- Call service if temperature swings continue after normal outlet restrictions are cleared.
