Dometic water heater rotten-egg odor
Use this for unpleasant rotten-egg or hydrogen-sulfide odor from a Dometic tank water heater's hot water.
Owner-safe checklist
- Confirm the odor is from hot water, not an LP leak; use the gas-smell guide if gas odor is possible.
- Turn off the water heater before draining or flushing.
- Do not add aftermarket anode rods or non-approved devices to Dometic/Atwood aluminum tank water heaters.
- Use only owner-accessible tank draining or flushing steps if you are comfortable with them.
- Call service if odor persists, fittings are not owner-accessible, or water-heater service is needed.
