Dometic water heater winterizing or tank flushing

Use this when preparing a Dometic/Atwood tank water heater for freezing storage, flushing sediment, or recording a winterizing issue before service.

Owner-safe checklist

Turn the water heater off and let stored water cool before any drain or flush step.
Shut off the main water supply or pump from normal RV controls before draining.
Use only owner-accessible drain or flush steps from Dometic support and the RV manual; stop if the drain is obstructed or fittings are not safely accessible.
Call service for blocked drains, damaged fittings, leaks, or winterizing questions beyond normal tank draining.
