Owner-safe checklist

Move food to a cooler, turn the refrigerator off, open the doors, and place towels for melt water.
Let frost melt naturally; do not use a hair dryer, heat gun, boiling water, or sharp tool.
Dry the interior before restarting and reduce repeat frost by closing doors quickly and covering liquids.
