Suburban electric wall heater thermostat and high-limit shutdown

Use this when a Suburban electric wall heater still has the switch light on, restarts later from thermostat demand, shuts down on high-limit overheat, or has blocked air inlet or outlet flow; Suburban says the heater cannot be completely turned off by use of the thermostat knob alone, high-limit switches shut it down if overheated, and the end user may not service or modify it.

Owner-safe checklist

  • To fully turn the heater off, use the ON/OFF switch; thermostat position alone is not a full shutdown.
  • For hard-wired units, turn controls off and turn power to the heater circuit off at the main disconnect before cleaning.
  • Keep air inlets, outlets, and nearby combustibles clear; if high limit trips, remove only visible blockages and let the heater cool at least 10 minutes.
  • Do not service or modify the heater as an end user; contact a technician or Customer Service if the problem remains.
