Suburban cooktop yellow flame or burner will not stay lit
Use this when a Suburban cooktop has yellow flame tipping, burners not igniting properly, burners failing to remain alight, a flame extinguished by cupboard doors, or a gas valve difficult to turn; Suburban lists these as abnormal operation that needs qualified service.
Use this atlas to identify likely meaning and prepare for service. Shut off power, LP gas, fuel, or water when a listed appliance condition involves flame, gas smell, exhaust, generator shutdown, high temperature, moving jacks/slides, refrigerant, 120 VAC, control boards, repeated ignition failure, or a persistent lockout. Call the appliance maker, RV dealer, or a qualified RV technician for repair.
Owner-safe checklist
- Turn the affected knob OFF and stop using that burner.
- Keep the cover fully open and the area clear of loose items while documenting the symptom.
- Record flame color, whether cabinet doors or drafts affect it, and whether the knob is hard to turn.
- Use qualified service if yellow flame, repeated no-light, failure to stay lit, or difficult knob movement continues.
