RV Appliance Code Atlas

Suburban SF-VH return-air, register, or flex-duct airflow layout

Use this when a Suburban SF-VH furnace has rapid cycling, weak heat, overheating, or airflow complaints tied to minimum open duct area through registers, return-air restriction, a heat outlet within 18 inches blowing toward the return, crushed or sharply bent flex duct, loose duct connections, or added air boosters.

Owner-safe checklist

  • Keep outlet registers open and aim adjustable outlets away from the return-air opening if they blow directly into it.
  • Remove only loose visible items blocking return-air grilles or furnace compartment airflow.
  • Look for obvious crushed or sharply bent flexible duct only where already owner-visible; do not remove panels.
  • Have return-air area calculations, duct sealing, booster removal, and cabinet or duct changes handled by qualified service.
