Thetford RV toilet winterizing and freeze-damage risk
Use this when a Thetford RV toilet may freeze, has frozen water in the bowl or valve area, or needs sanitation-system winterizing with RV potable antifreeze.
Owner-safe checklist
- If water is frozen in the toilet, do not flush until the ice has thawed.
- Turn off the RV water supply, drain the bowl, and follow Thetford's sanitation winterizing steps using RV potable antifreeze only; do not use automotive antifreeze.
- Add Thetford-compatible seal lubricant and antifreeze to the bowl as Thetford describes for winterizing.
- Do not operate a toilet that leaked after freezing; contact Thetford, a dealer, or qualified RV service for suspected freeze damage, valve leaks, or water-line damage.
