Girard GSWH-1/GSWH-1M winterization or freeze-risk
Use this when a legacy Girard GSWH-1 winter-use device, GSWH-1M built-in winter mode, storage winterization, or suspected freeze damage is involved.
Use this atlas to identify likely meaning and prepare for service. Shut off power, LP gas, fuel, or water when a listed appliance condition involves flame, gas smell, exhaust, generator shutdown, high temperature, moving jacks/slides, refrigerant, 120 VAC, control boards, repeated ignition failure, or a persistent lockout. Call the appliance maker, RV dealer, or a qualified RV technician for repair.
Owner-safe checklist
- Winterize the whole RV plumbing before storage or freezing weather; the winter-use device protects only the water heater internal piping.
- For intended winter operation, verify only normal owner-visible conditions: fresh water, 12V power, water pump, LP supply, and the heater switched on.
- Shut off water, LP, and 12V power for leaks, suspected freeze damage, gas odor, or visible damage.
- Treat winter-use-device installation, thermostat, solenoid, wiring, and leak repair as qualified service work.
