Dometic documentation describes E5 separately for each model line: Dometic Bluetooth Capacitive Touch (CT) thermostat (“An open circuit or out-of-range Freeze Sensor; Air Conditioner mode locks out while the LCD displays the last temperature setpoint”); Dometic Comfort Control Center 2 (CCC2) (“Open circuit or out-of-range freeze sensor; air-conditioner operation locks out while other modes may continue”). What you can safely check
- Record the affected zone number and displayed code.
- Turn the affected HVAC equipment off if it is not operating normally.
- Use normal RV power indicators to note whether shore power, generator power, or battery power is present.
- Record the E5 code, selected mode, last setpoint, and whether cooling had been running.
- Turn cooling off from normal thermostat controls if the air conditioner is locked out.
- Check only owner-accessible return-air filter condition and supply-air nozzles before arranging service.
Stop and call a technician for
- Freeze-sensor, evaporator-protection, and air-conditioner diagnosis should be handled by authorized Dometic service or qualified RV HVAC service.
Do not bypass thermostat wiring, rooftop equipment controls, module boards, DIP switches, 120 VAC circuits, or freeze/sensor safeties. Shut off the affected HVAC equipment and arrange qualified RV HVAC service for unresolved faults.
Do not open thermostat, rooftop HVAC, or electrical compartments, and do not bypass communication or sensor circuits. Shut the affected HVAC system off and arrange qualified RV HVAC service for unresolved Single Zone LCD faults.
Do not remove thermostat, rooftop HVAC, or electrical compartment covers, and do not bypass communication or sensor circuits. Shut the affected HVAC system off from normal controls and arrange authorized Dometic service or qualified RV HVAC service for unresolved Bluetooth CT faults.
