Lippert E1 fault code — Water heater
Applies to: Girard GSWH-2
What E1 means
The Lippert Girard GSWH-2 owner manual lists E1 as ignition failure or accidental flame off during ignition.
Owner-safe checks
- Turn the hot-water faucet off and back on once only from normal controls if the manual reset applies.
- Confirm the LP tank has fuel and normal RV controls are on before one restart.
- Record the code, set temperature, water-flow state, and whether this was first startup after LP service.
- Contact Lippert/Girard or a qualified technician if E1 returns.
Service-only work
- Internal sensor, ignition, flame-sense, ECO, blower, pressure-switch, linear-valve, wiring, gas, and controller diagnosis is qualified service work.
Safety boundary
The Girard GSWH-2 is an LP gas tankless water heater. Shut the heater off for gas odor, overheating, leaks, blocked exhaust, or repeated faults and use Lippert/Girard or qualified RV service.
