Lippert Fd fault code — Water heater

What Fd means
The Lippert Girard GSWH-2 owner manual lists Fd as winter-use mode or freeze protection; the unit may run briefly and shut off in freezing conditions when LP gas and 12V power are on, but this protects only the water-heater heat exchanger and not the RV plumbing system.
Owner-safe checks
- Do not rely on Fd or winter-use mode to winterize the whole RV plumbing system.
- Verify winterization history and shut water off if leaks or freeze damage are suspected.
- Record the code, temperature, LP and 12V status, and any visible leaks.
- Contact Lippert/Girard or a qualified technician before operating a suspected freeze-damaged heater.
Service-only work
- Internal sensor, ignition, flame-sense, ECO, blower, pressure-switch, linear-valve, wiring, gas, and controller diagnosis is qualified service work.
Safety boundary
The Girard GSWH-2 is an LP gas tankless water heater. Shut the heater off for gas odor, overheating, leaks, blocked exhaust, or repeated faults and use Lippert/Girard or qualified RV service.
